In a follow-up to its previous repatriation efforts, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Lagos, along with other key stakeholders, has received an additional 144 Nigerians from Libya at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport’s cargo terminal.

The group, in a statement released on Wednesday through its X handle, said the repatriated individuals include 89 men, 35 women, 17 children, and three infants.

The 144 Nigerians arrived at the MMIA on a chartered Boeing aircraft, registration no. 5ADMG, which flew in from Al Buraq.

The evacuation was facilitated by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in collaboration with key Nigerian agencies, including NEMA, the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Nigeria Immigration Service(NIS), Department of State Services(DSS), Port Health Services, and the Nigeria Police Force(NPF).

The statement reads: “NEMA Lagos Operations Office, in collaboration with other stakeholders, received 144 vulnerable Nigerian returnees from Libya at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Cargo Terminal, Ikeja, Lagos on 8th April, 2025.

“The returnees arrived at 17:15 hours aboard an Al Buraq chartered Boeing flight with registration number 5ADMG.
The group consisted of 89 males, 35 females, 17 children, and 3 infants.

“They were provided with necessary assistance by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in partnership with NEMA, NCFRMI, Nigeria Immigration, DSS, Port Health, and the Nigeria Police Force.

“Following the mandatory profiling and biometric exercise, the returnees were relocated to the Igando IDPs resettlement center for further reintegration programmes.”

This repatriation is one of several that have taken place recently.

The recent one was on March 4, when 144 vulnerable Nigerians returned from Libya, comprising 100 females, 8 males, 26 children, and 10 infants.
