Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers have made a strong statement in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) Season 5, securing their second consecutive win in the Kalahari Conference.

The Nigerian champions defeated host team FUS de Rabat 88-82 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, Morocco.

This victory comes on the heels of their impressive 81-58 win over Stade Malien in their opening game.

Rivers Hoopers, who finished third in the 2024 BAL season, have carried their momentum into the Kalahari Conference, living up to their high expectations.

The team faced a tougher challenge against FUS de Rabat, a Moroccan basketball giant, but managed to come out atop.

Canadian-Nigerian guard Kelvin Amayo has been instrumental in Rivers Hoopers’ success, leading the team in scoring for the second consecutive game.

Amayo had 23 points and four assists against FUS Rabat, while Madut Akec contributed 25 points, eight rebounds, and two assists.

Despite the loss, FUS de Rabat showed resilience, pushing Rivers Hoopers to the limit in a competitive game that went down to the wire.

Rivers Hoopers will look to continue their winning streak when they face Al Ittihad Alexandria on Tuesday.
