A suicide mission was accomplished in Lagos when a woman took a plunge into the Lagos Lagoon from the Third Mainland Bridge.

The tragic incident occurred at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday near the University of Lagos (UNILAG) waterfront.

It was gathered that the woman jumped into the water, prompting a swift response from Marine Police stationed in the area.

Confirming the incident, Lagos State Police Command’s spokesman, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the woman’s body was recovered at the UNILAG shore slipway by the Marine Police.

“She was confirmed dead by a team of UNILAG medical doctors in the presence of a police team from the Sabo Division,” he said.

The body of the woman has been deposited at the mortuary of the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) in Yaba.

Investigations are ongoing to determine her identity and the circumstances surrounding the incident, the police said.
