NNPC Ltd Signs Deal to Supply 80mmscf/d of Gas to Ssonic Petroleum Ltd for LNG Facility

NNPC Ltd, through its subsidiary NNPC Gas Marketing Ltd (NGML) and joint venture partner NIPCO Gas Ltd, has entered into a Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement (GSPA) with Ssonic Petroleum Ltd.

This agreement facilitates the supply of natural gas to power Ssonic Petroleum’s proposed Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility, strategically located within the Lekki Free Trade Zone in Lagos State.

Managing Director, NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML), Justin Ezeala and CEO of Ssonic Petroleum Ltd, Ifeoma Douglas, sign an 80mscf Gas Supply Agreement between the two companies for the proposed LNG Plant in Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lagos, on Thursday.

The Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd, Mr. Olufemi Soneye, said in a terse statement on Friday, that under the terms of the agreement which was executed on Thursday, the NGML-NIPCO UJV will supply 80million standard cubic feet (mmscf) per day of natural gas to the Ssonic Petroleum LNG plant for a period of 20 years.

He said: “The gas supply agreement is part of efforts by the NNPC Ltd to boost domestic gas utilisation for the nation’s industrial and economic growth and promote the use of gas as a cleaner, cheaper and more environmentally friendly fuel in keeping with the goal of reducing global warming.”
