The 30 council chairmen elected in Saturday’s polls on Sunday received Certificates of Return from the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC).
OSIEC’s Information Officer, Sadiat Isiaka, confirmed in a statement on Sunday that the commission has officially presented Certificates of Return to the newly elected chairmen.
Persecondnews reported that the Federal Government through the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) and the Inspector General of Police has cautioned against conducting the polls.
Hours after the polls, OSIEC Chairman, Hashim Abioye, had declared that all the 30 chairmanship and 332seats were won by candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The OSIEC’s Information Officer, said: “The OSSIEC Chairman congratulated the elected chairmen on their victory, just as he urged them to be good ambassadors of democracy both in conduct and service to the people.”
She disclosed that the swearing of the chairmen would hold at the Osun State Government House, Oke-Fia, Osogbo, later today.
