The ongoing marital crisis between Nigerian music legend, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, and his estranged wife, Annie Idibia, has taken another dramatic turn as the singer’s family formally petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) over his sudden disappearance.

Per Second News gathered that the development comes barely a week after 2Baba publicly announced his separation from Annie, ending their tumultuous marriage.

While the announcement initially seemed amicable, fresh controversies have since emerged, making the situation more complicated.

Days after the separation, speculations arose linking the “African Queen” crooner to a romantic relationship with Hon. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly.

The rumours intensified after a viral video surfaced showing the singer proposing to the lawmaker in what appeared to be an intimate setting.

The video sparked outrage among fans and family members, with many questioning the singer’s swift transition from his troubled marriage to a new relationship.

It also fueled concerns about the state of his mental and emotional well-being amid the ongoing divorce.

Adding to the controversy, 2Baba’s mother, Mrs. Rose Idibia, has publicly addressed Hon. Natasha, warning her to stay away from her son.

In a video obtained by this medium, she expressed her disapproval of the rumoured relationship, stating that she would not support any form of union between them.

“I have been quiet all this while, but I cannot fold my arms and watch this happen. My son has been through so much already, and this is not the time for another distraction,” she reportedly stated.

Meanwhile, the sudden disappearance of 2Baba has raised alarms within his family, prompting them to seek the intervention of the DSS.

His siblings and close associates claim they have been unable to reach him for days, fueling concerns over his safety and whereabouts.

A source close to the family informed Per Second News that 2Baba was last seen in Lagos before he stopped responding to calls and messages.

“At first, we thought he just needed space after everything that happened, but now, we are genuinely worried. This is unusual,” the source revealed.

The DSS has yet to officially respond to the petition, but sources within the agency confirmed that preliminary inquiries have begun to determine the singer’s location.

While some speculate that 2Baba might have gone into hiding to escape the mounting pressure from both his family and the public, others believe there could be deeper underlying issues surrounding his sudden absence.

Annie, who has remained relatively silent since the separation announcement, has yet to comment on the latest developments.

However, insiders suggest she is focused on moving forward and prioritising her well-being and that of their children.

Meanwhile, Hon. Natasha has dismissed the rumours surrounding her and the singer, insisting that their relationship is purely platonic.

In a statement released by her media team, she described the viral video as “misleading and taken out of context.”
