President Bola Tinubu presided over the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House Council Chambers in Abuja on Monday, the first in the new year, where he swore in eight newly appointed Permanent Secretaries.
This ceremony took place before the commencement of the FEC meeting.
The ceremony marked the beginning of the FEC meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima, National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and ministers in attendance.
A minute of silence was observed before the meeting as a mark of respect for the late Jeremiah Useni, former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, who passed away on January 23, 2025.
This solemn gesture allowed attendees to reflect on Useni’s life and legacy, and pay their respects to his memory.
The meeting is expected to feature presentations from various ministries, departments, and agencies.
Tinubu urged the newly inaugurated permanent secretaries and commissioners to uphold diligence, innovation, and commitment in performing their duties, emphasizing their roles in advancing the administration’s governance and development agenda.
The FEC meeting is a crucial platform for the President and his cabinet to discuss and formulate policies for the country’s development.
