The stage is set for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, with Nigeria’s Super Eagles drawn into Group C alongside Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania.
At the draw ceremony held in Rabat, Morocco, the Super Eagles were handed a challenging group, but Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Ibrahim Gusau expressed confidence in the team’s ability to rise to the occasion and make a strong showing.
“It is not a bad group, as I am optimistic that we will lead the group at AFCON 2025,” Gusau said, citing the team’s recent performances and progress under the current coaching crew.
With adequate preparation and teamwork, Gusau believed the Super Eagles can navigate the group stage successfully.
The Super Eagles will face North African giants, Tunisia, as well as Southern African underdogs, Uganda and Tanzania, in Group C.
Other groups include Group A: Morocco, Mali, Zambia, Comoros; Group B: Egypt, South Africa, Angola, Zimbabwe; Group D: Senegal, DR Congo, Benin Republic, Botswana; Group E: Algeria, Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, Sudan; and Group F: Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Gabon, Mozambique.
Senegal, the 2022 AFCON champions, will face tough competition in Group D, while Algeria will take on Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan in Group E.
The NFF President has assured that the Federation will provide all necessary support to ensure the team’s success.
“We will do everything possible to ensure that the Super Eagles are well-prepared for the tournament. We are confident that they will make Nigeria proud,” Persecondnews quotes Gusau as saying.
