A retired police inspector, reportedly in his late 60s and identified as Linus Monday, has been apprehended for allegedly extorting motorists and motorcyclists on the road.

In an apparent attempt to supplement his low retirement income, Monday donned a worn police uniform.

Monday was caught while conducting an unauthorized stop-and-search operation, sparking concerns about the activities of some retired law enforcement personnel.

Although the state where the retired police inspector was apprehended has not been confirmed, a similar incident occurred in Kaduna State involving Rabiu Sani, a fake police officer arrested for impersonation.

A viral photo circulating online appears to show the retired inspector wearing a police uniform with an ID card bearing the number 6257.

He was allegedly paraded in one of the police divisions in the country.

The incident has sparked concerns regarding the adequacy of retirement benefits for police officers and civil servants, who have dedicated their productive years to serving the nation.
