The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has commenced the construction of a hostel and a standard football pitch, as part of its efforts to develop football at the grassroots.

This project, initiated by NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, aims to provide top-notch facilities for the U15, U17, and U20 boys and girls national teams.

A visit to the site by a Persecondnews correspondent on Tuesday afternoon revealed that work is underway, with bulldozers clearing the land and removing major obstacles, paving the way for the construction phase to begin.

According to General Secretary of the NFF, Dr. Muhammed Sanusi, the project is focused on technical development of Nigerian players, and work has started on the projects, which will be completed very soon.

Sanusi pointed out that the NFF is committed to reshaping Nigeria’s football development through investments in infrastructure and programmes.

The new infrastructure will feature state-of-the-art playing surfaces and hostels for all youth teams within Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.

Additionally, the existing FIFA Goal Project will undergo renovations, including a change of playing surface for the male and female youth teams.

Gusau had promised to upgrade Nigeria’s football infrastructure to match that of top African countries like Morocco, which boasts over 20 international stadiums, 200 synthetic turf fields, and five regional training centres.

The NFF is determined to bridge this gap and provide Nigerian players with world-class facilities to aid their development.
