Horror as congregants of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Idiroko in Ogun State, a border town between Benin Republic and Nigeria watched their pastor and prophet, Yomi Adetula, fatally shot right on the pulpit by some unknown gunmen during the January 19 church service.

Persecondnews gathered that the assailants stormed the church and desecrated it by shooting the cleric while giving his sermon in the full glare of worshippers at 11 a.m.on the altar.

The six-member gang wielding AK-47 rifles disguised as worshippers by wearing Celestial Church’s attires to gain entry before pumping bullets into Adetula’s body.

According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen ensured the cleric did not survive the attack, firing multiple shots before fleeing the scene.

The victim has been identified as Prophet Yomi Adetula, who also served as the Idiroka Unit Commander of the Ogun State-based security outfit, Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps (So-SAFE Corps).

Confirming the incident, the State Commandant of the corps, Mr. Soji Ganzallo, said he received the news of Adetula’s assassination with a rude shock.

Grief-stricken Ganzallo assured that the corps would not relent in its crime fighting task and pledged readiness to assist appropriate security agencies with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
