Tinubu off to Abu Dhabi for Sustainability Summit, returns Jan.16

President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Abuja on Saturday, January 11, to attend the 2025 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2025), an event that brings together global leaders to accelerate sustainable development and socioeconomic progress.

The summit, scheduled to take place from January 12 to 18, will focus on “The Nexus of Next: Supercharging Sustainable Progress,” exploring pathways to a sustainable economy and a new era of prosperity.

During the event, President Tinubu will highlight his administration’s reforms, particularly in energy sufficiency, transportation, public health, and economic development.

According to a statement by presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the summit on the invitation of his United Arab Emirates counterpart, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

ADSW, a testament to the power of collaboration, which has been held annually for over 15 years, provides a global platform to foster multi-stakeholder cooperation in addressing global challenges and accelerating growth.

It has birthed high-value agreements and strategic partnerships between governments, industry leaders, and clean energy pioneers worldwide, driving impactful alliances and advancing the sustainability agenda worldwide.

The Nigerian leader and his entourage will also meet with the Emirate’s leadership to discuss issues of interest affecting the two nations.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb.Yusuf Tuggar, and some top government officials will accompany the President, who is due back in the country on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
