Just in: Sen. Azuta Mbata elected new Ohanaeze President-General

Senator John Azuta-Mbata has made history as the newly elected 13th President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, a prestigious Igbo socio-cultural organization.

His election took place during a recent meeting in Enugu, where he was chosen to succeed outgoing President-General Fidelis Chukwu.

Notably, Azuta-Mbata hails from Rivers State, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s history.

With his wealth of experience as a former senator, representing the Rivers East constituency from 1999 to 2007, he is well-equipped to lead the organization forward.

It aims to represent the interests of all Igbo communities within and outside Nigeria.

The election was held through voice voting, resulting in Azuta-Mbata and 15 others being elected to various executive roles.

Born in January 1960, Azuta-Mbata holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the prestigious University of Ibadan.

Before becoming a senator, he served as a member of the Governing Council of Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt.

As a senator, Azuta-Mbata played key roles in various committees, including Defense, Works & Housing, Women Affairs, and Finance & Appropriation, where he served as vice chairman.

His contributions to these committees showcased his expertise and commitment to Nigeria’s development.
