Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James etched his name in the record books once again, surpassing Michael Jordan’s mark for most 30-point games in NBA history.
James achieved the feat in the Lakers’ 119-102 victory over the Atlanta Hawks, scoring 30 points to reach the milestone for the 563rd time.
The 40-year-old James, who is the league’s all-time leading scorer, expressed his humility and admiration for Jordan, whom he idolized growing up.
“Anytime I’m mentioned with any of the greats, and arguably the greatest ever to play the game, it’s super-cool,” James said.
He also moved into fourth place on the all-time games played list with 1,523 appearances.
The Lakers’ win was fueled by strong performances from Anthony Davis, who returned from a one-game absence with an ankle problem to score 18 points and grab 19 rebounds, and Austin Reaves, who chipped in with 20 points.
Trae Young led the Hawks with 33 points and nine assists, while Jalen Johnson added 19 points.
In other NBA action, the Oklahoma City Thunder extended their winning streak to a team record-equalling 14 games with a 117-107 victory over the New York Knicks.
The Thunder trailed by eight points going into the final quarter but rallied behind Aaron Wiggins’ 15 fourth-quarter points to secure the win.
The San Antonio Spurs also edged past the Denver Nuggets 113-110, thanks in part to Victor Wembanyama’s 35 points, 18 rebounds, and four assists.
