Nigeria’s hopes are high for the CAF Women’s Champions League, dubbed “Morocco 2024,” with Edo Queens leading the way.

The tournament, scheduled to take place from November 9 to 23, promises exciting football and significant prize money.

This year’s competition boasts a 52 percent increase in prize money, with the total purse standing at $2,350,000.

Each of the eight participating teams will receive at least $150,000.

The winner will take home $600,000, while the runner-up and third-place finishers will receive $400,000 and $350,000, respectively.

Edo Queens earned their spot in the CAF Women’s Champions League after winning the WAFU B qualifiers earlier this year.

The Nigerian side impressed with a 3-0 victory over Ainonvi FC du Benin in the final. Emem Essien, the team’s top scorer with five goals, will be one to watch in Morocco.

Moses Aduku’s tactical approach and ability to motivate his players played a crucial role in Edo Queens’ qualifying success.

His discipline and belief instilled in the team will be vital in facing the continent’s best women’s football clubs.

Edo Queens becomes the third Nigerian team to participate in the CAF Women’s Champions League, following in the footsteps of Rivers Angels (2021) and Bayelsa Queens (2022), who finished third.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is committed to developing and growing women’s football in Africa.

Under President Patrice Motsepe’s leadership, CAF aims to invest in youth academies for boys and girls and increase prize money for all competitions.
