NNPC Retail Limited, a subsidiary of NNPC Ltd, has taken a significant step towards promoting cleaner and affordable energy solutions in Nigeria, sensitizing over 1,000 auto mechanics on the benefits of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) adoption.

It also introduced its Oleum lubricant range.

A statement by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd., Mr. Olufemi Soneye, on Saturday said the awareness initiative, held at the National Artisans and Technicians Conference in Lagos, aimed to demystify CNG conversion and encourage sustainable energy solutions.

The event featured practical demonstrations, providing mechanics with firsthand insights into the process.

The Executive Director of Retail Operations & Mobility at NNPC Retail, Mr. Baba Shettima Kukawa, highlighted the importance of CNG adoption, urging mechanics to acquire the necessary skills.

“Sensitizing mechanics is crucial to achieving Nigeria’s long-term energy goals. We encourage artisans to pursue skills required for this transformative shift,” Kukawa stated.

The Motor Mechanics and Technicians Association of Nigeria (MOMTAN) and Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), however, commended NNPC Retail’s proactive approach.

The leaders of the associations called for the expansion of the initiative nationwide, stressing the need for sustained efforts to support Nigeria’s transition to cleaner energy.

In support of the local automotive sector, NNPC Retail provided auto mechanics with tools and equipment.

The company’s commitment to promoting CNG aligns with NNPC Ltd’s strategic vision to reduce environmental impact and make fuel affordable.
