Violence erupted in Rumuepirikom Community in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State as unidentified gunmen opened fire on voters, seizing control of the area and leaving at least one person in Saturday’s council polls.

According to report, a group of people had invaded the community and announced that people should not come out for the polls.

Persecondnews recalls that Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja issued an order on September 30, barring INEC from releasing the voters’ register for the election by RSIEC.

Also, the Rivers State Police Command said it will not participate in the election in compliance with a Federal High Court’s judgment.
