Nollywood actress and movie producer, Toyin Abraham, has addressed the recent allegations regarding an unpaid debt to a fashion designer, which sparked controversy on social media.

The allegations first emerged online, when the designer claimed that Toyin had failed to return or pay for dresses borrowed during the production of Malaika.

Following the use of the dresses in a film’s runway scene, the designer reportedly accused the actress of refusing to acknowledge or resolve the issue.

These claims quickly gained attention, and various media outlets and fans reacted to the situation, leading to a wave of speculation and criticism aimed at Toyin.

As the story spread, social media users began expressing disappointment, questioning Toyin’s professionalism, and demanding an explanation from her.

The allegations painted a picture of unpaid debts and mishandled business dealings, which fuelled further rumours and assumptions.

Toyin has now clarified the situation, claiming that everyone has misunderstood it in response to the uproar.

She clarified that although she had borrowed the dresses for the shoot, she had returned them to Gabriel, the team member who had facilitated the arrangement.

Toyin also revealed that Gabriel had informed the designer of this, and the dresses were subsequently borrowed by someone else, which means the responsibility no longer lies with her.

Toyin provided screenshots of conversations between Gabriel and the designer to support her explanation, and she expressed gratitude to those who showed understanding and patience during the controversy.
