Just in: Justice Nyako recuses herself from Kanu’s trial

Justice Binta Nyako of a Federal High Court in Abuja has recused herself from Nnamdi Kanu’s trial following the defendant’s request in the open court on Tuesday, citing the judge’s alleged disregard for Supreme Court orders on his case.
This development comes after Kanu questioned Justice Nyako’s impartiality and ability to deliver a fair judgment.
Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), dramatically took control of his trial by ordering his counsel, Mr. Alloy Ejimakor, to sit down, then personally referencing the Supreme Court judgment that highlighted alleged bias against Justice Binta Nyako, the presiding judge.
