The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has donated N200 million to the victims of the recent devastating floods that ravaged some communities in Borno State.
The NPA announced this in a statement on Saturday.
The trio of Ibrahim Umar, the Executive Director of Engineering & Technical Services, Ms. Vivian Edet, the Executive Director of Finance & Administration; and Olalekan Badmus, the Executive Director Marine & Operations, presented the cheque on behalf of the NPA to the Governor of Borno State in Maiduguri on Friday.
Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, the NPA’s Managing Director, said the agency stands with Borno State during this sad occurrence that has resulted in huge losses and disruption of lives and livelihoods.
“As a token of support for your disaster relief efforts, the Nigerian Ports Authority, under the guidance of the Honourable Minister of Marine & Blue Economy, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola, hereby donates the sum of N200m to aid efforts at stabilising the victims as quickly as possible,” Dantsoho said.
Last week, the devastating flood in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, resulted in the displacement of at least 414,000 people and the death of another 30.
