The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended Sen. Dino Melaye over alleged anti-party activities.
The Ayetoro/Iluagba Ward 1 party executive committee suspended Melaye after reviewing a disciplinary committee report that detailed his actions.
Melaye’s recent actions were considered detrimental to the party’s interests and unity.
The move is consistent with the party’s precedent of taking disciplinary action against members accused of anti-party activities, such as the suspension of Osun chieftain Mr. Peter Babalola in August 2024 for similar offences.
In another development, the Benue State chapter of the PDP had previously suspended former Governor Samuel Ortom due to alleged anti-party activities.
The Benue PDP also summoned Sen. Gabriel Suswam and other party members for alleged gross misconduct and anti-party activities.
The resolution to suspend the Senator read: “Senator Dino Melaye’s conduct has brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party, and his continued membership is no longer tenable.
“Therefore, the Ward party exco hereby suspends Dino Melaye from the Peoples Democratic Party, effective and immediately.
“The suspension is in line with provisions of Article 59(1) of the PDP constitution, which empowers the ward party excos to take disciplinary actions against erring members.”
