The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed on Thursday that two lives were lost while two people were injured when a two-storey building collapsed in the Noman’s land area of Fagge Local Government Area in Kano.
NEMA’s Kano Territorial Office Coordinator Dr. Nuraddeen Abdullahi confirmed the incident in a statement, a copy of which Persecondnews obtained.
He said: “The agency received a distress call today at about 2:00 a.m. from a good samaritan that a two-storey building collapsed at Noman’s Land Quarters, Kano.
“On receiving the information, we quickly sent our rescue team to the scene.
“Four persons rescued by our team were husband, wife, and two children; out of the victims, the two children were confirmed dead, while the couple were rushed to Armed Forces Specialist Hospital, Kano, for treatment.”
He said search and rescue efforts were still underway to locate and save individuals trapped inside the building.
Persecondnews reports that a multi-agency team, comprising the Kano State Fire Service, Police, Red Cross, NSCDC, SEMA, and other organizations, was among the search and rescue team.
