Just in: DSS spokesman, Afunanya, redeployed

The Department of State Services (DSS) national headquarters in Abuja has redeployed Dr. Peter Afunanya, the Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications, to a new role.

Afunanya, at a media briefing on Wednesday in Abuja, announced his redeployment but did not disclose his next assignment.

He expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the country as the covert security outfit’s spokesman for the past 10 years.

He reaffirmed his dedication to the Service and Nigeria, promising to continue delivering his best efforts in any future role he is assigned to.

Afunanya pledged to uphold his responsibilities with unwavering “love, loyalty, honour, and glory” to the nation as he embarked on his new assignment.

Meanwhile, Mr. Adeola Ajayi, the newly appointed Director General of DSS, assumed office last week with a pledge to refocus the Service towards covertness and studied silence.

The new DG expressed his dedication to overcoming the myriad challenges plaguing Nigeria’s economic, political, and security landscapes.
