The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Tajudeen Abbas, has expressed sadness over the death of the District Head of Gatawa in Sokoto State, Alhaji Isa Bawa, in the kidnappers’ den.

Terrorists kidnapped Bawa and his son on July 29, 2024, and tragically, the district head did not survive his ordeal.
In a statement by his media aide, Mr. Musa Krishi, on Thursday, Abbas decried that the kidnapping and treatment of the late emir were inhumane.
He said: “In the first place, the bandits’ kidnapping of the traditional ruler was barbaric; their treatment of the late Sarkin Gobir was inhuman.”
The Speaker vehemently condemned the persistent kidnapping for ransom in the country, labeling it ‘completely unacceptable.’
He also extended his deepest sympathies to the family of the late Sarkin Gobir, the people of Gatawa District in Sabon Birni Local Government, and the Sokoto State Government for their devastating loss.
“Allah would have mercy on the soul of the late Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa and make Jannatul Firdaus his final abode.”
