The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested suspects in connection with the theft of 1200 bags of rice allocated for distribution by the Federal Government in Katsina State.

The perpetrators also diverted 48 bags of rice kits, further exacerbating the situation.

The spokesman for the DSS, Dr. Peter Afunanya, disclosed this at a media briefing in Abuja today.

According to Afunanya, the DSS made several arrests in July, targeting individuals engaged in criminal activities such as oil theft, kidnapping, burglary, cultism, terrorism, and insurgency.

The security agency also apprehended several other individuals, including top terrorist commanders, logistics suppliers, arms smugglers, and creators of improvised explosive devices.

In addition to the arrests, DSS operatives also seized a large cache of weapons and materials, including semi-automatic double-barrel guns, cartridges, pump action rifles, locally-made pistols, IED initiators, AK47 rifles, magazines, and batteries.
