Blessing Oborududu suffered a painful defeat as she lost her semifinal bout in women’s wrestling 68kg to Kyrgyzstan’s Meerim Zhumanazarova 1-3 on points on Monday night.

Oborududu struggled to gain momentum after clashing with her opponent, which affected her in the second half of the match.

According to Persecondnews, the 35-year-old wrestler still has hope because she will return to compete for a bronze on Tuesday.

Oborududu was on a quest to go one more step better than she did at the Tokyo Olympics, where she won a silver medal.

She lost to USA’s Tamyra Marianna Stock Mensah at the final of the women’s 68kg freestyle event to grab Nigeria’s first ever Olympic wrestling medal in 2021.
