For the second time in five years, the P-Square music group, comprised of Peter and Paul Okoye, has suffered another split.

In a recent interview, Paul Okoye revealed that he has parted ways with his twin brother, Peter, after the latter expressed disinterest in continuing as a duo.

Paul confirmed the split by sharing, “He sent me a message that he was no longer interested. He told me to my face that he wants to quit,” indicating that the group’s journey had come to an end once more.

Paul, who chose not to delve deeply into the specifics of their disagreement, citing creative differences as a primary reason for their separation, mentioned that Peter had requested the split remain private, a suggestion Paul felt uncomfortable with, as he wanted to avoid being portrayed as the antagonist if he decided to pursue a solo career again.

“When I go solo, they will call me a bad person. That’s why I need to start speaking so the fans can know what’s going on,” Paul said, explaining his decision to make the situation public.

Further complicating their relationship, Paul revealed that Peter had petitioned both him and their older brother, Jude Okoye, to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The EFCC investigated and subsequently cleared Paul of any allegations of financial misappropriation.

As Paul transitions back to his solo career under the moniker “Rudeboy,” he expressed eagerness to release new music, stating, “I just want to resume my career as Rudeboy. I have over 200 songs just lying there.

“He also emphasized his role in their previous work, asserting that he wrote 99 percent of their songs during their time as P-Square.

Fans will recall that P-Square first split in 2017, leading to separate careers where Peter adopted the stage name “Mr. P” and Paul continued as “Rudeboy.”

This latest development marks another chapter in the saga of one of Nigeria’s most iconic music duos.
