Nigerians have picked on Ogun State Gov. Dapo Abiodun for calling them ‘sore losers’ in his reaction to the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest that shut down several cities across the country yesterday.

During an interview session on Channels Television on Friday, Abiodun drew the ire of Nigerians with his comment, which many felt exacerbated the hardship the masses had endured under the President Bola Tinubu administration.

Responding to a question on the propriety of the nationwide protests, Abiodun said: “The problem we have today is that Nigerians are sore losers. Rather than accept that if you want a regime change, wait till 2027.

“Don’t begin to sponsor faceless, leaderless protests under the guise that you are dissatisfied. The current realities are not peculiar to Nigeria alone.”

Persecondnews reports that many Nigerians took to X to express their anger in response to the comments.

Here are some of the comments:

“Dapo Abiodun, a sitting governor who lived large on taxpayers money for 4 years without any significant achievement in Ogun State and was rewarded with another 4 years, called Nigerians “sore losers” on a live television.

“Can you now see that we aren’t even angry enough?”

“Nigerians, over to you! The audacity of a… to undermine the efforts of hard-working Nigerians demanding a better country.”
