One of Nigeria’s oldest monarchs has joined his ancestors at the age of 102.

Oba Frederick Aroloye, the Owa of Idanre Kingdom in Ondo State, reportedly passed away in his palace.

Chief Christopher Akindolire, the Lisa of Idanre Kingdom, confirmed the death of the first-class traditional ruler on Wednesday in the ancient town, which is home to the famous Idanre Hills, an international tourist site.

He said preparations for the necessary traditional rites are already underway in the palace.
