Nigerian music star D’banj has concluded plans to release his highly-anticipated fifth studio album, Entertainer – The Sequel, which he describes as a music project that represents the journey of African music on the global stage.

Set to drop on August 9, 2024, the album is a creative blend of Afrobeats and Afropop, featuring eleven songs and two bonus tracks.

Entertainer – The Sequel promises an impressive lineup of collaborations with global stars, including Grammy Award winner Wyclef Jean, Congolese icon Awilo Longomba, Senegalese music legend Youssou N’Dour, American superstar Akon, South African megastar DJ Maphorisa, and NBC’s The Voice sensation Chechi Sarai. Nigerian artists Phyno, Timaya, Kayswitch, Zlatan, Peruzzi, Bhadboi OML, and Chuchu Lee also make notable appearances.

As a prelude to the album’s release, D’banj dropped a new single titled “Worthy” on July 19.

The track features Youssou N’Dour and Chechi Sarai, offering fans a tantalizing glimpse of what’s to come.

Reflecting on his new project, D’banj expressed his excitement, stating: “Life is a maze of self-discovery, and my new album, Entertainer – The Sequel, confirms this truth to me.

“It’s a true reflection of my growth as an artist and my continued commitment to pushing the boundaries of African music.

“The past 20 years have been an incredible ride, and I am grateful for the support and love I have received. I am thrilled to share this new chapter in my musical journey with my fans,” he said.

He added, “This album represents not just my journey but the journey of African music on the global stage. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”

Following the album’s release, D’banj will embark on a global tour, performing in major cities in partnership with The Temple Company.

The tour will further showcase his new music and solidify his position as a key figure in the global music scene.
