A Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday affirmed Dr. Asue Ighodalo as the duly nominated and authentic governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State.

Justice James Omotosho, while delivering judgment in the suit marked CS/469/24, held that Dr. Ighodalo was duly nominated at the February 22 primaries election of the PDP, which was held in Benin City.

He then dismissed the lawsuit that the plaintiff, the impeached former Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, had filed against his nomination.

Persecondnews recalls that Ighodalo emerged as the governorship candidate of the PDP in a primary election held on February 22, 2024, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

He scored a total of 577 votes to beat his closest rival, Shaibu, and 10 other aspirants.
