A member of the House of Representatives, Ekene Abubakar Adams, who represented Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, is dead.

His death was confirmed to Persecondnews on Tuesday morning by his wife.

Before his death, he was Chairman of the House Committee on Sports.

Ekene was a former football player, ex-General Manager of Kada City Football Club, and ex-GM of Remo Stars of Ogun State before winning the House of Representatives election under the Labour Party in 2023.

This will be the second death in the House of Representatives within 7 days, following the demise of Rep. (Prince) Olaide Akinremi, popularly known as Jagaban.

Rep. Akin Rotimi, Jr., the House Spokesman and Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, released a statement on Wednesday, stating that Akinremi (APC-Ibadan North Federal Constituency) passed away last Wednesday at the age of 51 after a brief illness.

Akinremi also served as chair of the House Committee on Science Research Institutions.
