Factional Speaker Martin Amaewhule of the Rivers State House of Assembly has given Governor Siminalayi Fubara a seven-day ultimatum to re-present the 2024 budget for consideration and approval.
The pro-Wike faction reconvened on Monday after a prolonged break and promptly issued the order.
Meanwhile, Mr. Victor Oko-Jumbo’s faction is concurrently holding a rival session.
Persecondnews recalls that Fubara had previously presented the budget to the other House loyal to him, with his current Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, presiding as Speaker.
The Ehie-led House approved the budget proposal, which the governor subsequently signed into law.
The enacted budget aims to stimulate economic growth, foster inclusive development, and address the prevailing socio-economic disparities in the state.
