The custody of Imade, the daughter of music star David Adeleke, also known as Davido, may not see a resolution anytime soon, as the ongoing feud continues to rock the Momodu and Adeleke families.

Former presidential aspirant and Ovation International publisher Dele Momodu, who is also the uncle of Sophia Momodu, has stepped into the crisis, urging both parties to avoid making harmful and irreversible statements on social media regarding their child’s custody.

Taking to his Instagram page on Saturday, Momodu expressed his concerns about the ongoing dispute between Davido and Sophia.

He emphasized the importance of prioritizing their daughter’s well-being and urged both parents to compromise on custody and financial responsibilities.

Momodu recounted a distressing message he received from Davido, revealing the latter’s devastation over a counter-affidavit submitted in court by Sophia.

He expressed surprise at the situation, noting that Davido had not mentioned any custody issues during a recent video call they had with Pastor Tobi Adegboyega.

During the call, which was focused on Davido’s upcoming wedding, Momodu was under the impression that the custody matters were settled.

He had previously thanked Davido’s father, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, for his support during Davido’s absence and assumed that everything was amicable between Davido and Sophia.

However, Momodu highlighted the real issues at hand, which included non-payment of school fees, accommodation, and a nanny’s salary.

He mentioned that Dr. Adeleke had resolved the school fee issue and even provided a car for his granddaughter.

The remaining concern was accommodation, which Sophia declined due to discomfort with living among Davido’s family members.

Momodu believed that the lack of camaraderie between Davido and Sophia exacerbated the situation.

He added that their daughter must not suffer or be treated like a second-class child, given Davido’s global status.

He shared instances of Sophia allowing access to their daughter and facilitating play dates with Davido’s family.

“Last night, I received a distressing message from Mr. David Adeleke (aka Davido). He was obviously devastated by the counter-affidavit submitted in court earlier in the day in response to his affidavit seeking joint custody of his daughter with my niece Sophia Momodu.

“I had seen David’s affidavit about two weeks ago, and I was very surprised, as David and I had spoken on a video call days earlier, with him and Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, and he never told me he had any custody issues with my niece.

“So you can imagine my confusion to find out via social media and subsequently confirmed by my niece that he had filed an action in court seeking joint custody of their daughter.

“During the referenced video call, we were all very excited about his forthcoming wedding ceremony, an event our family congratulated him about.

Prior to this, David had told me he eventually spoke to their daughter, after a long lull of about two years.”

In his reaction, Davido also expressed displeasure over Sophia’s usual reference to the death of his son, who died in 2022.

Davido, in an Instagram story, wrote: “You are constantly bringing up the death of my child at any point you can to just remind us of this tragedy that haunts us every day of our lives.
