The newly appointed Kano State Police Commissioner, Salman Dogo Garba, has taken office, pledging his commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens and their property.
During a handover ceremony, Garba solicited the collaboration and support of police officers and the public following the promotion of his predecessor, CP Husani Gumel, to Assistant Inspector General rank at the Officers Mess in Bompai, Kano.
He emphasized the need for a seamless transition and optimal performance.
Persecondnews recalls that on June 15, the Kano State Government, through the State Commissioner of Justice, Mr. Haruna Dederi, accused Gumel of subverting the authority of Gov. Abba Yusuf.
In his defence, Gumel strongly rejected any suggestions of disrespect towards Yusuf and reaffirmed his dedication to maintaining public safety and peace.
He cited his successful efforts to reduce criminal activity in Kano State as evidence of his loyalty and commitment to the governor and Kano people.
In his farewell address, Gumel expressed his gratitude to the officers and men of the Kano State Command for their unwavering support and cooperation throughout his tenure, attributing his accomplishments in Kano to their collective efforts and dedication.
He called upon the officers and men of the Kano State Command to extend their full cooperation and support to the new Commissioner of Police, Garba, to enable him to successfully achieve the command’s goals and objectives.
At the vibrant farewell ceremony, the Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kano State Chapter, honoured Gumel with an Award of Excellence, recognizing his exceptional leadership and outstanding achievements during his tenure in Kano.
The ceremony also featured recognitions and presentation of awards to dedicated police officers and men, as well as philanthropists, for their tireless efforts and contributions to fostering peace and harmony in the state.
