President Bola Tinubu has approved extending the free train rides on the Abuja Metro Rail until the end of the year.

He announced the six-month free ride in his address at the commencement of rail operations in Abuja on Wednesday.

Persecondnews recalls that the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, had earlier announced free train rides for two months to ease the burden of commuting for residents of the FCT.

Tinubu said: “Our dear landlord and his team, I heard you saying two months free ride. I appeal to you to make it till the end of the year.

“Since today you are not going to charge me, that will give the people hope and reasons to celebrate.”

He commended the FCT Minister for living up to expectations and completing the project, referring to him as Mr. Project.
