After spending three days in captivity, the students of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, Kogi State, who were abducted by unknown gunmen on Thursday, have been rescued.

They were rescued by security agents and gallant local vigilance group.

The kidnapping occurred while the students were on campus getting ready for their first semester exams, which were due to begin on Monday.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, in a statement obtained by Persecondnews in Lokoja on Sunday, confirmed that the students were rescued hours after Gov. Usman Ododo visited the campus and promised to rescue them unhurt.

Persecondnews reports that the commissioner was, however, silent about the actual figure of the rescued students.

He praised the gallantry of all the security agents who went all out to rescue the students from their abductors, saying the unknown gunmen were confronted with superior power that made them abandon their victims.
