On May 8th, we celebrate World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, honoring the selfless dedication of millions of volunteers and staff who bring hope and humanitarian aid to those in need. This year’s theme, “I give with joy, and the joy I give is a reward,” embodies the spirit of generosity, compassion, and kindness that defines the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

There is power in giving
Giving is not just about donating resources; it’s about sharing a part of ourselves. When we give with joy, we experience a profound sense of fulfillment and purpose. The joy we give to others becomes a reward in itself, creating a ripple effect of kindness and compassion that resonates far and wide.

The Red Cross and Red Crescent Spirit
For over 160 years, the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement has been a beacon of hope in times of crisis. From providing emergency assistance to promoting humanitarian law, our volunteers and staff embody the spirit of giving with joy. They risk their lives to save others, comfort the afflicted, and bring hope to those who have lost it.

On this World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, we invite you to join us in celebrating the power of giving with joy. Whether through volunteering, donating, or simply spreading kindness, every action count. Together, let’s create a world where everyone has access to humanitarian aid, regardless of their background or circumstances.

We honor the humanitarian heroes in Nigeria who embody the spirit of giving with joy. We recognize the sacrifices of those who have lost their lives in the line of duty and celebrate the resilience and generosity of the Nigerian people.

Happy World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day!
