The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has described as fake news that it has appointed ex-international Emmanuel Amunike as the Super Eagles coach.

On Sunday, the Director of Communication at NFF, Ademola Olajire, disclosed that “NFF has not announced anyone yet.” It’s fake news.”

Social media was awash with news of Amunike’s appointment and congratulatory messages on Sunday evening.

According to Persecondnews, since Jose Peseiro’s departure, Amunike and Finidi George have been managing the national team in an interim capacity.

Football enthusiasts expect the NFF to make a statement soon to allow the new coach to begin preparations for the Super Eagles 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.
