The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Kogi Gov. Yahaya Bello wanted over allegations of fraud to the tune of N80.2 billion.

This followed the absence of Bello in court on Thursday at his arraignment.

The operatives of the commission had laid a siege on his Wuse, Abuja residence on Wednesday in a bid to arrest him after obtaining a warrant of arrest.

But was “smuggled” out by Kogi Gov. Usman Ododo, who “visited” him during the siege.

The EFCC made the announcement in a statement on its social media handles, saying Bello is wanted for offences relating to the economic and financial crimes committed during his tenure as governor.

The EFCC urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to report immediately to the Commission or the nearest police station.

The commission wrote: “Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, is wanted by the EFCC for offences relating to economic and financial crimes to the tune of N80.2 Billion.

“Anybody with information as to his whereabout should report immediately to the Commission or the nearest Police Station.”
