Nollywood actress Rita Dominic shared a poignant chapter of her life, detailing a hiatus from acting that led her to embrace a caregiver role in London, UK.

At the Women of Valour International Women’s Day event in Ghana, Dominic revealed the difficult period that prompted her retreat from the spotlight, marked by strained relationships and a quest for solace.

Relinquishing her celebrity status, she resettled in London, facing financial challenges along the way.

Yet, amidst the struggle, she discovered profound fulfilment as a caregiver for adults with special needs, drawing upon her past experiences caring for her ailing parents.

Dominic’s journey underscores the transformative power of finding purpose in unexpected places, defying perceptions of societal status, and embracing the beauty of selfless service.

During her time in London, Dominic noted that she navigated a path that diverged significantly from her glamorous life in Nollywood.

“Working as a caregiver, I found solace in providing assistance and compassion to those in need,” she said, a stark departure from the glitz and glamour of the entertainment industry.

Despite external perceptions of her career shift as a step-down, Dominic said she remained steadfast in her conviction that caring for others brought her immense joy and fulfilment.

“This newfound purpose resonated deeply with me, as I have had a similar experience of attending to my parents during their illnesses.”

Rather than succumbing to the pressures of fame or societal expectations, she embraced a role that allowed her to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
