A government-licenced private security outfit, Tantita Security Services Limited, in a joint operation with the Nigerian Navy, says it has intercepted another illegal vessel laden with crude oil in Bayelsa State.

The vessel MT Harbour Spirit, with IMO No. 8226272, is currently anchored at the Tantita facility in Oporoza, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

This comes barely a month after the Nigerian Navy intercepted a vessel with 17 crew members onboard, caught engaging in illegal syphoning of crude oil from one of the well heads at the EBESAN oil field about 7 nautical miles off the coast of the Awoye riverine community in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The vessel’s storage capacity is about 15,000 metric tonnes, and as of the time of arrest, the naval spokesman said, it had loaded about 500 metric tonnes of crude oil.
