The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Mr. Agbu Kefas of the People’s Democratic Party as the governor of Taraba State.

This is as the apex court, in a unanimous decision, dismissed the appeal by Prof. Yahaya Sani of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) for “grossly lacking in merit.”

Persecondnews reports that Prof. Sani had asked the apex court to set aside the election of the governor in the March 18, 2023 governorship poll.

The NNPP governorship candidate alleged non-compliance with the Electoral Act, irregularities, and other malpractices.

He asked the court to pronounce him the winner of the election on the grounds of scoring a majority of the lawful votes cast.
