Funke Akindele’s latest film, “A Tribe Called Judah,” has achieved a groundbreaking milestone, raking in an impressive 1 billion Naira at the Nigerian box office within just three weeks.

The success makes it the fastest Nollywood movie to reach such a feat and crowns it as the highest-grossing Nollywood film to date.

Funke Akindele, who directed the movie, now holds the title of the highest-grossing Nollywood director of all time.

Released in December 2023, “A Tribe Called Judah”, is a heartfelt and comedic drama, narrating the struggles of a single mother and her five sons facing financial difficulties.

Their attempt to rob a mall takes an unexpected turn when they encounter another group of robbers already on the scene.

The star-studded cast includes Funke Akindele, Timini Egbuson, Jide Kene Achufusi, and many others.

Directed and co-produced by Funke Akindele alongside Adeoluwa Owu, the film has garnered praise for its compelling performances, engaging storyline, and humorous elements.

Audiences nationwide have embraced its themes of family, love, and resilience.

FilmOne Distribution shared the historic achievement on their Instagram page, hailing “A Tribe Called Judah” as a testament to the power of storytelling, cultural pride, and the unyielding spirit of Nollywood.

The success was celebrated with a heartfelt message, acknowledging the entire cast and crew for their contributions.

Persecondnews reports that Funke Akindele, known for previous hits like “Omo Ghetto: The Saga” and “Battle on Buka Street,” has dedicated “A Tribe Called Judah” to her late mother.
