World Bank ranks Kogi’s ACReSAL project as best in environmental safeguards, oversight

The World Bank has awarded the Kogi State office of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes Project (ACReSAL) the highest rating in Environmental Safeguards in the country.

The rating was announced by the World Bank ACReSAL team during a Stakeholder Engagement with Authorizing Environment of the 19 Participating States and the FCT, reports Persecond News.

Increasing the resilience of agricultural systems in semi-arid regions is the objective of the ACReSAL initiative.

A delegation from Kogi State, under the leadership of the Commissioner for Environment, Mr Victor Adewale, and other dignitaries attended the event for stakeholders’ engagement that unveiled the rating.

In addition, the group was acknowledged for their stewardship of monitoring and evaluation, as well as their honesty and integrity.

A statement by the State Project Coordinator, Ladi Ahmed Jatto, a lawyer, said the body was committed to the project’s long-term viability.

She also acknowledged Gov. Yahaya Bello for his assistance in accomplishing the project’s goals.
