Teenage girl escapes death, rescued from rubble of collapsed storey building in Lagos

A baby and woman were earlier reported trapped, according to the Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs Margaret Adeseye.

Several hours after one-storey building collapsed in Ebute Meta on Lagos mainland on Friday morning, rescue operation has saved the life a 12-year-old girl as she was recovered from the rubble.

The girl was rescued alive from the collapsed building at 122, Herbert Macaulay Way, Lagos Bus Stop, Ebute Meta.

A baby and woman were earlier reported trapped, according to the Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs Margaret Adeseye.

But the Fire Service had said two more bodies had been recovered, one being male and the other female.

It said:“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently attending to an emergency which was reported at 09:00 hours to 122, Herbert Macaulay Way, Lagos Bus Stop, Ebute Meta, Lagos where a one storey building with penthouse has collapsed and two adults and a baby, all females are still trapped with search and rescue ongoing.

“However, an adult female has been rescued alive in stable condition as the State Emergency Response fully activated”.
