Breaking: Rivers crisis: Bulldozers pull down State House of Assembly complex amid tight security

The Rivers State House of Assembly is currently being demolished by about six bulldozers, according to report reaching Persecondnews.

The bulldozers swung into action on Wednesday morning with the road to the complex blocked amid tight security.

The factional Speaker, Mr Edison Ehie, had led other lawmakers loyal to the governor to hold a sitting early on Wednesday before the demolition began.

Persecondnews had reported on Monday that 27 Rivers PDP lawmakers loyal to ex-Gov. Nyesom Wike defected to the APC.

The speaker had during the session announced that the complex was due for repairs following the explosion that rocked the building on October 30, 2023.

He said the governor would provide an alternative building for them to use as the House of Assembly pending the reconstruction of the building.
