Tragedy! Three Oyo State monarchs die in road crash

Two of the monarchs died on the spot while the third one died later at Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital Hospital, Ogbomoso, a witness said.

Oyo State has lost three traditional rulers in a single day to an auto crash in the state, reports Persecondnews.

The three monarchs — Olodogbo of Odogbo, Onibowula of Bowula and Alayetoro of Ayetoro — are all from Oriire council area.

The accident occurred when a Mercedes Benz E230 with branded number plate “OLODOGBO” had a head on collision with a commercial truck with registration no. 301 XF at Aje Iye in the area.

Two of the monarchs died on the spot while the third one died later at Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital Hospital, Ogbomoso, a witness said.

“Six passengers were involved in the crash, but the three survivors are undergoing treatment at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital. The affected passengers were going for a social function at the nearby community when the accident occurred.

“The affected monarchs are Olodogbo of Odogbo, Onibowula of Bowula and Alayetoro of Ayetoro in Oriire Local Government,” the witness said.

Contacted, the FRSC Sector Commander, Mr Joshua Adekanye, said: “It was a head on collision involving a private and commercial vehicles on Ogbomoso-Oyo Expressway.

The survivors are undergoing treatment at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital while the corpses of the victims have been deposited at the morgue of the same hospital.”
