Mrs Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was on Thursday sworn in as the duly elected Senator representing Kogi Central in the nation’s upper chamber.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio had called on the Clerk of the Senate to administer the oath on her during Thursday plenary session.

Oath-taking by Akpoti-Uduaghan followed a judgment by the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, on Monday, which affirmed her as the duly elected Senator for Kogi Central in the February 25, 2023 poll.

The court struck out the appeal filed by Sen. Abubakar Ohere of APC for lacking in merit.

Persecondnews recalls that earlier in September, the Kogi State Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting in Lokoja had nullified the election of Ohere and declared Akpoti-Uduaghan winner.

Ohere had headed to the appellate court to seek redress but the court again upheld Akpoti-Uduaghan as the winner of the poll.
