President Bola Tinubu has said he has unwavering and implicit confidence in the integrity of his Chief of Staff, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila.
The President made the statement before the commencement of the fourth Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Monday at the hallowed Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja.
Tinubu said he is aware of the campaign of calumny to smear the reputation of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives and cautioned propagandists to desist forthwith.
“First of all, let me reiterate to all of you the fact that a lot of stories are going around about what is happening. I have told everyone in this country that I can make mistakes, they are bound to air them out and correct them.
“Perfection is that of God Almighty. I have absolute confidence on the integrity of my Chief of Staff. All campaigns of calumny and insinuations should stop, the buck stops here.
“If I make mistake I’m ready to own up to it and we’re all joining hands to fight corruption and we want to enforce the law along with you,” the president said.
Meanwhile, the Council has observed a minute-silence for a former member of FEC and one-time Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Adamu Fika, who died last week at the age of 90 years.
Gbajabiamila had on Sunday on his official ‘X’ handle, clarified that no amount of aspersion can derail the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Tinubu.
He wrote: “Last Thursday, the Supreme Court gave the renewed hope agenda a stable platform to deliver good governance to Nigerians.
“Our agenda is not driven by pecuniary politics, and no amount of propaganda can derail our focus. We have a critical assignment to deliver and our objectives will not be interrupted by baseless accusations from unverifiable quarters.
“Nigerians can rest assured that the President and his strong team will deliver without distractions.”
